I’m a frequent user of Lyft Bikes, a.k.a. Baywheels in SF. Some fun facts:

  • If you have a monthly subscription, you pay $29/month. Weirdly, if you have this for 5 months, they will automatically upgrade you to the annual subscription, which costs $165, while reducing your charge for the 6th month. So, as far as I can tell, there is literally no benefit to getting the annual subscription directly.
  • There’s a data standard called GBFS that allows you to see the availability of Lyft bikes (and other similar modes of transport) at any station for free. Upon finding out, I collected something like a month of data on Lyft Bike availability.
